The mission of the Center for Advanced Biomanufacturing (CAD Bio) is to establish UVA as a world leader in translational research for tissue engineering and regenerative medicine (TERM) technologies and to build and support a community made up of members from academia, industry, government, and the nonprofit sectors that are working on new technologies in TERM. We do this by striving to meet the following goals:

  • Developing novel and more effective regenerative biomaterials both at UVA and in collaboration with our colleagues around the United States
  • Creating a state-of-the-art advanced biomanufacturing facility to which the UVA community has access
  • Creating the infrastructure, as well as the academic and industrial collaborations, that will make CAD Bio competitive for federal and private funding
  • Training the next generation of innovators in the field

Our vision is a world where traumatic injuries and congenital defects can be repaired quickly, effectively, and cost-efficiently through emerging technologies enabled by and made available to our community.
